The magnetic hump separator serves to catch soft magnetic elements (iron filings, screws, etc.) from bulk materials (powders, granulates). It is designed to work in pipelines and channels for the gravitational transport of materials. It is used where it is not possible to use magnetic grids. Designed to work in the food industry (version made entirely of acid-resistant steel), as well as in plastics processing, ceramics and many others. The magnetic separator made of acid-resistant steel contains a magnetic circuit made of ferrite magnets. Magnetically active is the inner surface of two magnetic plates located in the bottom part of the separator. The arrangement of the plates causes all material falling into the separator to slide down the magnetic surface. This ensures that ferromagnetic impurities are captured. The second separator (lower), by slowing down the flow and breaking it down into finer parts, catches all the remaining particles not caught by the upper separator.

Separator with ferrite magnets are recommended for the separation of components larger than 10 mm. For smaller contaminants, with neodymium magnets, or the intermediate neodymium-ferrite variant, should be used.

The separator is cleaned by opening a door with installed magnetic plates and pulling off adhering (disorderly) elements.

Sintered neodymium magnets are used in the separator.
The maximum operating temperature for magnetic separators with ferrite magnets is approximately 80°[C].
