This small disc magnet can hold up to 400 grams, provided that the iron surface is smooth and there is no gap between the magnet and the iron surface. Painted or varnished iron surfaces will not adhere as strongly to the magnet because the layer of paint or varnish will act in the same way as a thin air gap.
