Performance parameters

External diameter

5 [mm] +0,1/-0,1

Height

5 [mm] +0,1/-0,1

Magnetizing direction along dimension

5 [mm]

Direction of magnetization along the height means that one circular surface of a magnet makes the N-pole, while the other – opposite – circular surface refers to the S-pole.

Grade

N38

Magnet type

Neodymium

Maximal hoisting capacity

0,80 [kg]

The magnetic force value given above, expressed in kilograms, was measured under ideal conditions. A thick iron plate with a smooth, unpainted surface was used. The force required to detach the magnet from the plate was perpendicular to the plate.

Magnetic field in geometrical center of the magnetic pole surface

0,388 [T]

Coating

Nickel-plated (NiCuNi)

do not use in water
Sintered neodymium magnets are brittle (fragile). A neodymium magnet without housing could break after an impact with another strong magnet.

Maximum working temperature

≤ 80 [°C]

The maximum operating temperature of a magnet depends on the specific magnetic circuit in which the magnet is placed. Curie’s temperature is ~ 310°[C]. Temperature coefficient of remanence TK(Br): ≤ -0,12 %/°[C]. Temperature coefficient of coercivity TK(HcJ): ≤ -0,6 %/°[C].

Magnetic moment

114,57 [nWb]x[m]

Weight

0,74 [g]

The magnet parameter values presented here are the result of measurements taken on one specific magnet and are used to compare magnets available in the online shop. We recommend testing the magnet yourself under the expected operating conditions.

coercivity HcB

min. 876 [kA/m]

coercivity HcJ

min. 955 [kA/m]

The magnetic properties of the material are not identical for every magnet. The measurement results for different magnets will vary due to the inherent heterogeneity of the magnetic material and the measurement tolerances of the measuring device.

D5x5/N38 - cylindrical neodymium magnet

A cylindrical neodymium magnet with a height of 5 mm and a diameter of 5 mm is a very well-designed magnet. Increasing the height of this magnet will only slightly increase the lifting capacity, but the price of the magnet will increase significantly. If this neodymium magnet is to come into direct contact with another magnet or iron plate, there is no need to increase its height. If there is a significant gap between the magnets or between the magnet and the plate, it is better to use a tall magnet because it will work with its magnetic field over a greater distance than a short magnet.
